Award-winning dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against veteran media personality Blakk Rasta, demanding ₵100 million in damages.
According to reports circulating on Monday, January 19, 2026, Shatta Wale initiated legal proceedings after Blakk Rasta allegedly made serious claims about the musician’s associations with individuals embroiled in criminal investigations
The dispute stems from comments aired by Blakk Rasta on his show, during which he is said to have suggested that Shatta Wale had ties to Swedru-based businessman Abu Trica and others recently arrested by the FBI and Ghanaian law enforcement agencies on suspicion of fraud-related offences. These remarks, Shatta Wale’s legal team argues, have damaged the artist’s reputation and business interests.
Shatta Wale’s suit accuses Blakk Rasta of making false and defamatory statements, and seeks ₵100 million in compensation for the harm allegedly caused to his name and career. The exact legal grounds and filing details have not yet been made public, but the case has quickly drawn attention across Ghana’s entertainment and legal circles.
This latest legal clash adds to a series of high-profile defamation issues involving Shatta Wale in recent years. In past cases, including a legal dispute with his former manager, Bullgod, the artiste has been both plaintiff and defendant in defamation suits. That particular case was ultimately resolved through an out-of-court settlement after extended proceedings at the Accra High Court.
Both Shatta Wale and Blakk Rasta have been influential figures in Ghana’s cultural landscape — the former as one of the country’s most streamed musicians, and the latter as a long-serving radio and TV personality known for outspoken commentary.
